Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Valencia CF return to LaLiga action this Sunday after the international break, visiting RCD Espanyol. Toni Lato looks ahead to the match with VCF MEDIA and highlights the importance of carrying over their good showings at Mestalla to away games.
Returning rejuvenated
The international break has been good for us to rest up and prepare for the next game. We're raring to return to action in LaLiga and hopefully take the three points.
In our home games, above all, we are performing well and the feeling is good. We need to carry this over to our away games and I think that this is a good opportunity for us to do that. We're confident about doing that on Sunday.
Away performances
In Bilbao we deserved a much better result, whilst at Vallecas the team didn't play as well as we wanted. We need to feel like we do at home on our away form, and this is a good chance to do that. It's a good stadium and they are a good team, and I think this is also a good time to win. The team are preparing at the highest level to do it.
Recovering from the loss to Rayo
The coach told us clearly, and we were aware of it as well. We knew that we hadn't started the game like we should have. I think that we corrected that the other day at Mestalla against Celta Vigo. It was a very competitive game until we opened the scoring. Our match against Espanyol will be similar, and just as intense.
RCD Espanyol
The season has been inconsistent for Espanyol, but they are a good team and they use their strengths well. They have a good stadium and have their fans there, but this is a good time for us and we have to take advantage of that, continuing the good feeling that we have and taking the three points.
Maintaining a style on the road
We have to comply with the responsibility of playing with our style away from home. We identify a lot with the coach and what he asks of us, and we need to use that to take the three points.
Personal form
I'm happy. Leaving behind last season, and above all the injury problems that I had, is a big help, and I'm happy about that.
A great group
The stats are there to see. We're a very young side, but we are good teammates and professionals. There is an excitement that is transmitted by the younger players. We try to help all of the new arrivals in the first team and make them feel that they identify with us. I think that we're on our way with that, and that we have a spectacular group.
